Wallin's second journey took him across the Hijaz Mountains to Tabuk in north-eastern Saudi Arabia. He continued to Tayma (oasis) on the edge of Wahhabi territory and became the first European to set foot there. His journey finally ended in Basra. In 1850 he returned to Finland, where he was appointed professor of oriental languages at the University of Helsinki. Aalto pp 37-40. Röhricht 2038.
